The airport was inaugurated on October 1, 2017, and is operated by the Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC). It was built to improve accessibility to Shirdi and cater to the growing number of tourists and devotees visiting the holy site.
Shirdi Airport is a relatively small airport with a single terminal building. It has the capacity to handle both domestic and international flights. The airport is well-connected to major cities in India such as Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, and Hyderabad through various airlines. Additionally, it has facilitated direct flights to international destinations like Dubai and Singapore.
The airport offers essential facilities and services for travelers, including check-in counters, security checkpoints, baggage handling, immigration, customs, and passenger amenities like shops, restaurants, and car rental services.
Traveling to Shirdi by air has become much more convenient since the opening of the airport, reducing the travel time for devotees and tourists who previously had to rely on other nearby airports like Aurangabad or Pune.
